F130I is a safety system that uses ionisation to supervise ignition and main flames of gaseous fuels, in intermittent as well as continuous operation. Optical flame sensors can be connected in addition, but then only intermittent operation is possible. Used purely with ionisation, it can watch each flame separately in single- and multi-burner systems; together with optical sensors it is limited to single-burner systems. It is intended for power plants, chemical plants and industrial firing systems where SIL3 is required.

The device has three inputs, ionisation (ION), UV and LDR, which can be used alone or combined. When any of them detects a flame, the flame relay output switches and reports flame ON. Which fuel an optical sensor suits depends on its spectral sensitivity: UV tubes (190…270 nm) cover gas and oil, LDR sensors for visible light (450…800 nm or 400…800 nm) cover oil, and ionisation covers gas. Only approved optical flame sensors may be connected; they are listed in the F130I operating instructions.

Housed in plastic with built-in control electronics, F130I mounts on a DIN rail in the control cabinet. It has a two-channel structure with electronic self-monitoring and needs no adaptation to national mains frequencies. It comes in 230 V AC and 120 V AC versions; the flame failure detection time (FFDT) is 1 s for the 230 V version and 3 s for the 120 V version. The ionisation auxiliary voltage equals the supply voltage. The flame signal contact is safety-oriented, the status contact is not. F130I is not designed to shut fuel valves directly; its signal must be processed in the plant's higher-level control system.
