The FFS07 and FFS08 flame sensors are of the non-compact type: FFS07 points axially at the flame, while FFS08 sits at right angles to the flame axis. Together with the F152 flame monitoring device they supervise burner flames safely in applications that do not call for demanding flame discrimination. They work only with F152, CMS, ETAMATIC, ETAMATIC OEM or MCC-BC400 and take their 24–42 V DC supply through these devices; each F152 accepts a single sensor. They are meant for single-burner systems and serve heating plants with single- or multi-fuel burners, process firing systems and hydrogen plants.
The sensors measure in the UV or IR range, chosen according to the fuel. UV-1 (260–400 nm) suits oil and gas; UV-4 (215–360 nm) also suits special gases such as refinery and furnace gas; IR-1 (1000–2500 nm) suits oil and gas firing with strong flue gas recirculation, and yellowish waste gases without UV or with the UV screened. The UV sensor detects within an 8° viewing angle, the IR sensor within 60°. Both models also offer the IR-1 T type, and FFS08 additionally IR-1 T/S2. They can be used outdoors; with F152 they run continuously and meet SIL3 to DIN EN 61508-2.
FFS07 is offered for safe areas, as FFS07 Ex-II for Ex zones 2 and 22 and as FFS07 Ex for Ex zones 1 and 21; FFS07 Ex is marked Ex d IIC T6 Gb and Ex tb IIIC T80 °C Db. Protection is IP66 in Ex zone 1 and IP67 in Ex zone 2. FFS07 fits plug-in FH or threaded FV brackets, and only FV brackets in Ex zone 1. FFS08 is for safe areas only: it has a nickel-plated brass housing and IP67, comes in short and long versions, and fits FH80 or FS60 brackets. Cable lengths stay below 300 m for both sensors.
