XE 18 PB 06 is TESI's portable high-energy igniter for safe areas. It is meant for lighting burners that have no pilot torch or electrode assembly of their own, for standing in when an igniter has failed and for emergency ignition. No mains connection is needed while it works: a built-in rechargeable 12 V, 7.2 Ah battery powers it, and an automatic charger sits inside the housing.

Each spark carries 18 J, at roughly 4 sparks per second. The duty cycle is 100 %, with 30 minutes suggested as the longest continuous sparking time, and one charge lasts for up to 41,900 sparks at 50 °C with the standard duty cycle. The aluminium alloy housing, rated IP65, measures 344 × 272 × 110 mm, weighs 5.7 kg and works at -20…+50 °C. Its sturdy build and low input voltage let the operator handle the rod during maintenance without breaking insulators or risking an electric shock.

With frequent use, the charging circuit may stay connected to the 115/230 V AC mains in non-classified areas, provided the ½" gas vent cap is left fully open; once the battery is full, the charger switches to a suitable holding current. With the cap and charging cable back in place, the igniter is always ready. If it will be idle for a long time or put into storage, the battery should be disconnected from the electronics.

Igniter rod

Stainless steel rod rated for 760 °C in operation (1000 °C maximum), 0.8 kg per metre, length to specification. Easily exchanged high-energy tip, 17 mm as standard or 12 or 14 mm on request. Rubber handle, 150 mm as standard, angled at 90° on request.

Connection cable

Flexible stainless steel armoured cable with bent or straight fittings; -60…+180 °C (200 °C for short periods); 0.4 kg per metre; length to specification.

Built-in charger

Automatic charger built into the housing: input 115/230 V AC, 50/60 Hz; charging output 13.5 V DC. Once the battery is full it supplies a suitable holding current.
