The HEI high-energy igniter lights the main fuel directly with an electric spark, so no pilot fuel is required. Designed for oil and gas, petrochemical and chemical plants, it can light gaseous and liquid fuels in burners of every capacity. Control unit and ignition lance are combined in one unit, the design is 100 % waterproof, and the sparks stay intense even with long lances. The igniter is suitable for use as a Class 3 Special electric igniter under NFPA 8501/8502.
The BASIC HEI500 produces 2 sparks per second at 18 J each, giving up to 36 J of ignition energy per second. It suits gases free of moisture and contamination, such as LPG or LNG; for light fuel oil it is available on request. The High-End HEI600 produces 26 sparks per second at 10 J each, giving up to 260 J per second. It ignites all types of gas, light fuel oil and heavy fuel oil up to No. 6 Bunker C, with a fuel analysis required for heavy fuel oil. Both models run on 115/230 V AC, 50 Hz, with 60 Hz on request.
The electrical power unit is also available for Ex zone 2; the HEI600 Ex zone 2 version carries the ATEX marking II 3G Ex db IIB+H2 T4 Gc and operates at ambient temperatures of -20…+60 °C. The standard ambient range is -20…+60 °C, and -40…+60 °C is possible as a custom solution. A pneumatic retraction unit is used when the lance is exposed to more than 600 °C permanently, when the tip is permanently above 720 °C (standard tip) or 1000 °C (special tip), or when combustion is heavily contaminated.

HEI high-energy igniter
Ignition lance
Forming one unit with the control unit, the 16 mm diameter lance is up to 3 m long in LAMTEC's sample configurations; LAMTEC's technical data lists lengths from 300 mm up to 13 m in 300 mm extensions, with extra-long lances partly rigid and partly flexible. Junction box: aluminium (standard) or stainless steel (special). Combustion chamber counter-pressure up to 1 bar (standard) or up to 9 bar (special); permanent tip temperature up to 720 °C (standard) or up to 1000 °C (special). IP65.
