Three-pass steam boiler
Scotch-type fire-tube boiler for industry: up to 30 000 kg/h of steam at pressures up to 25 bar
TSB Energy
- ≤ 30 000 kg/h
- ≤ 21 000 kW
- ≤ 25 bar
- 24–720 h unattended
TSB Energy's three-pass steam boiler is a Scotch-type fire-tube design. The burner flame forms the first pass inside a large corrugated furnace; the flue gas then runs through two separate banks of smoke tubes before reaching the stack. According to TSB, 55 % of the energy passes to the water in the furnace itself. The boiler fires natural gas, LPG, LNG, diesel and heavy fuel oil, and can burn up to 100 % hydrogen with a suitable burner. Output reaches up to 30 000 kg/h of steam (up to 21 000 kW) at pressures up to 25 bar.
At 8 bar, efficiency is 90–92 % without an economiser and 94–96 % with one; optional aluminium turbulators in the smoke tubes add 1.5 % combustion efficiency. With clean combustion, NOx stays below 70 mg/Nm³ on gas and below 150 mg/Nm³ on oil. Shell and tube plates are P355GH boiler plate (EN 10028-2), and nozzle pipes are seamless P235GH or P265GH tube (EN 10216-2); design and manufacture are based on EN 12953, PED 2014/68/EU, TRD and ASME VIII Div. 1.
The boiler comes on a single skid, ready to run: it can be commissioned once power, feedwater and the steam line are connected. A PLC supervises every safety device and the operator runs the boiler from an HMI panel; alarm and run signals leave via dry contacts, while remote data is available over Modbus, Modbus TCP/IP and Profinet. The SB-Special series, with extended instrumentation, is equipped to run without staff on site in line with EN 12953, and it stops and locks out automatically if a limit is exceeded.
Three-pass steam boiler
- Unattended operation for 24 to 720 hours cuts staffing and running costs
- Large evaporation surface and steam space to meet sudden steam demand
- Front doors open onto the smoke tubes, a rear explosion door onto the reversal chamber, and a manhole plus at least two handholes onto the water side
- Wetback or dryback design
- At least 2 % less fuel than standard boilers, as narrower furnace and tube diameters speed up the flue gas
- 100 mm high-density door insulation and galvanised, painted outer cladding keep radiation losses low
- CO₂ emissions can be cut by firing up to 100 % hydrogen with a suitable burner
- UL-labelled electrical components, with wiring to the National Electrical Code (NEC)
