BurnerTronic BT300 merges electronic fuel-air ratio control and an electronic burner sequencer in a single device designed to be fitted directly on the burner. Depending on the type, it drives 2 or 3 actuators; valve leakage testing, flame monitoring, flue gas recirculation and counters for operating hours and burner starts are part of the basic version.

Load control, variable speed for the combustion air fan, dual-fuel operation and fieldbus connectivity can be added later through extension modules on the LAMTEC SYSTEM BUS (LSB). O₂ trim control additionally requires an LT1, LT2, LT3 or LT3-F lambda transmitter; adaptive CO/H₂ combustion optimisation (SIL2) is also available.

Six types are available: BT320 (2 actuators), BT330 and the SIL3-approved BT331 (3 actuators), BT335 for simple oil/gas dual-fuel firing without a DFM300, and BT340 plus the SIL3-approved BT341 for dual-fuel operation with DFM300. Continuous operation calls for a flame sensor approved for it; BT320 itself is approved for continuous operation from version 3.9.0.0.

Benefits

BT300 burner control unit

  • Mounted directly on the burner: short cable runs and plug-in actuators cut installation time and wiring errors
  • Up to 3 actuators for fuel-air ratio control, depending on type; VSM100 adds fan speed control or a fourth channel
  • Integrated flame monitoring and a valve leakage test that can run before ignition or after burner shutdown
  • Language-neutral parameter setting with symbols on the UI300 panel, or from a PC with LSB Remote Software
  • Start with or without a pilot burner; gas burners can start without pre-purge in line with EN 676
  • O₂ trim control and adaptive CO/H₂ combustion optimisation (SIL2)
  • Optional load control and connection to plant automation via PROFIBUS DP, Modbus TCP or PROFINET
  • SIL3 to DIN EN 61508 and PL e to DIN EN ISO 13849-1 on BT331 and BT341
Modules

BT300 burner control unit

DFM300 dual-fuel module

Lets BT340 and BT341 fire dual-fuel burners on oil/gas or gas/gas. For the fuel in use, it switches the valve and ignition transformer outputs over to the components for that fuel, and it can change over the burner safety chain input as well. It connects over LSB and needs at least one LCM100 or LEM100.

VSM100 speed module

Adjusts the combustion air fan speed through a frequency inverter across the whole firing range, which lowers power consumption, fan motor wear and noise in the boiler room. Feedback comes from a NAMUR sensor, a 3-wire sensor or an analogue signal; alternatively, a fourth actuator can be connected via 4–20 mA. It works with every BT300 type.

LCM100 load control module

Provides PID load control based on temperature from PT100/PT1000 sensors or on pressure from a 4–20 mA sensor, with switching between two setpoints via a digital input and setpoint correction by outdoor temperature. It adds temperature inputs (3 × PT100/PT1000) for the boiler, outdoor air and flue gas, pulse inputs for fuel meters, a 4–20 mA firing-rate output, an LSB gateway and a 24 V DC supply for external sensors.

LEM100 LSB extension module

Adds an LSB (CAN) interface to BT300 so that further BT modules can be connected, and electrically isolates the BT300 output from those modules. It is the lower-cost alternative to LCM100 when only an LSB connection is needed, and requires a separate 24 V DC SELV supply.
