LT1 measuring system

Modular system with the LS1 probe for O₂ measurement in flue gas; automatic calibration with ambient air and SIL1

Flue gas measurement

  • LS1 HT: ≤ 1400 °C
  • Calibration with ambient air

LT1 is a microprocessor-based O₂ measuring system in which the LAMTEC LT1 lambda transmitter works together with the LS1 lambda probe. It measures the oxygen concentration directly in the excess-air range (λ > 1): in combustion plant and industrial flue gases, in furnace atmospheres and in process gases. About 0.5 litres of gas per hour are drawn off through a capillary tube for the measurement, and each LT1 takes only one LS1.

LS1 works on the current probe principle: its signal is a direct current that changes linearly with the oxygen content, and its physical zero point is fixed. No special test gas or reference gas is needed; the probe is checked and calibrated automatically with ambient air (20.96 % O₂), and ageing of the ZrO₂ measuring cell is compensated without intervention. After calibration, accuracy is ±0.1 vol.%. The LS1 type for high-temperature applications measures in flue gas at up to 1400 °C with a ceramic gas sampling part.

Combined with a suitable probe installation fitting and gas extraction device (GED), LT1 can itself control probe purging in high-dust applications as well as automatic calibration. Over the LAMTEC SYSTEM BUS it connects directly to the VMS, FMS, CMS, BT300 and ETAMATIC combustion management systems and supplies the measured value for O₂ optimisation. LT1 is offered on a mounting plate, in a panel installation housing or in a wall-mounting housing, each with its own data sheet.

Benefits

LT1 measuring system

  • Highly accurate oxygen measurement in flue gas across 0–21 %
  • Linear DC probe signal (mA) with a fixed physical zero point
  • No test gas needed: automatic calibration with ambient air and automatic ageing compensation of the ZrO₂ cell
  • No gas conditioning or reference gas needed; the measuring gas temperature does not affect accuracy
  • Measurement at up to 1400 °C via a ceramic gas sampling part, using the LS1 type for high-temperature applications
  • Does not act as an ignition source in the flue gas duct, as confirmed by TÜV
  • Intermittent measuring gas pump that sets its own optimum running time
  • SIL1 to DIN EN 61508
Modules

LT1 measuring system

LS1 lambda probe

Lambda probe based on the current probe principle: on the hot sensor, oxygen is ionised and pumped, producing a current in proportion to the oxygen content (0–21 % O₂ ≈ 0–500 mA). It connects to LT1 through a 7-core cable with plug and a Teflon hose. IP42 types are available for standard, high-temperature and high-dust applications. If the probe is more than 10 m from LT1, a probe connection box (PCB) near the probe is recommended for the measuring gas pump.
