SVG gas damper

DVGW-tested butterfly damper in aluminium or stainless steel for controlling gas flow, DN40…DN150

The SVG is a wafer-type butterfly damper clamped between two flanges; together with an actuator, it acts as the final control element for the gas flow in combustion plants. It comes in two types: SVGA (668M2300) with an aluminium housing and SVGS (668M2310) with a stainless steel housing, and in both the shaft and disc are stainless steel. Nominal sizes are DN40, DN50, DN65, DN80, DN100, DN125 and DN150, and every damper can also be ordered reduced by up to two nominal sizes (for example DN100 to DN80). The flow characteristic is non-linear; depending on how much pressure loss is acceptable, the flow can be adjusted in different ways within an opening angle of up to 90°.

The 11.1 × 11.1 × 11.5 mm square shaft end fits straight into the internal square socket (IVK11) of the LAMTEC 668M2006, 668M2020 and 668M2040 actuators, i.e. the 6, 20 and 40 Nm TPS actuators. The bracket is integrated into the damper, so no separate coupling or bracket is needed; fixing material and, for PN10…PN40 flanges, mounting sleeves are supplied. Where no such actuator is available, mounting kits fit the damper to 10 or 12 mm shafts with feather key or to the BT actuator (662R500…). As the damper has no position indicator, LAMTEC recommends an actuator that has one; a manual version with a continuously adjustable locking lever is also available.

Both types suit gases of gas families 1, 2 and 3, other neutral gases and hydrogen. For biogas, the aluminium SVGA may only be used with an H₂S content of up to 0.1 vol.%, whereas the stainless steel SVGS is also suitable for biogas. The gas must always be dry and must not condense. The operating pressure is limited to 500 mbar, and the medium temperature range is -20…+60 °C. The standard disc leaks approx. 1 % of the Kvs value; the optional tight-closing disc shuts off without leakage. The damper is DVGW-tested and holds a type examination certificate under the Gas Appliances Directive based on DIN EN 13611:2019 and DIN EN 161:2013.
