Medical waste sterilisation autoclave

The medical waste sterilisation autoclave treats infectious or hazardous waste from hospitals, laboratories and healthcare facilities with saturated steam under pressure. After treatment the waste counts as harmless domestic waste, which makes safe disposal and legal waste management simpler. Heat comes from direct steam or an electric steam generator. TSB Energy builds these autoclaves with internal diameters of up to 4500 mm, lengths of up to 30 m and pressures of up to 6 bar.

Temperature and pressure are programmed as recipes to suit the type of material and the sterilisation quality required. The high energy of the steam turns liquid in the waste into vapour, which is drawn off, condensed in cooling exchangers and sent to wastewater treatment. The system runs fully automatically and needs just one operator for supervision. Hospitals and healthcare, medical research, the chemical and cosmetics sectors and recycling are the main fields of use.

The shell is AISI 304/316 stainless plate to EN 10028-7 and the jaws are forged or cold-drawn AISI 304/316; 50 mm of ceramic wool (1260 °C, 128 kg/m³) insulates the structure. The design follows PED 2014/68/EU, ASME VIII Div. 1, EAC (GOST), EN 13445 and AD 2000-Merkblatt, horizontal or vertical, with one or two doors. Overpressure and overtemperature protection, sensor-monitored and mechanical door locks, Pilz safety relays and emergency stops are fitted, and the autoclave ships skid-mounted, ready once power and cooling water are connected.
